Final Blog

I can still remember the first class period. At that time I'm still a student who doesn't know how to act. I'm shy and afraid to act. I even don't know why I will choose this class. First class Ms. Guarino let us play some games to warm up. These games are all about acting something out. After that, I start my journey of learning acting. The performance I still remember is the fences one. I chose the part of Rose. That scene is very hard for me. Because I only have three minutes to perform and I have to cry out and let the audience to feel my passion. I act that scene three times. Every time when I act it I can't go into that character I can't cry out and add emotion into it. Then I keep telling myself I can do it, at the third time I cried out and I acted out like the scene in the movie. I think it's that time I feel like acting is a very interesting thing to do. Then we have lots of fun things to do in class learning poem, analysis poem, and watch plays. I like poems in the U.S because it's different than Chinese poems. It's a chance for me to learn other country's culture and learn the skills of analyzing. I also like to watch play, " Romeo and Juliet" " Les Misérables" and " school play," I think when I watch other actor's performance is a chance for me to learn how to become a successful actor. I can learn how to add facial expression and how to add body movements, these are very important for an actor to learn. Every time when we finish watching a play, Ms. Gusrino will let us write a review. I think this is a process of letting us learn. We have to write about the stage and the setting of this play, and we have to analyze the actor's motion and speaking style, and their clothing style. When we are writing these we are also improving ourselves. This process helps us to know how can we act our character better. I think IA is the hardest part of this class. First, we have to make our own plan about how are we going to make an adaptation. We have to become a director. Setting the stage, choosing costumes, and creating lines. After we find our partners we have to practice. When we perform the first time, I made lots of mistakes, so that I talked to my partners and solved the problems. Sometimes talk to one another is better, because you don't know what problems do you have when you are performing. But when others are watching they can notice your problems quickly. Also, talk to the teacher and let your teacher help you to improve is also helped me a lot. Reading books is also one of my interests in this class. I read many great books. " My Love My Love", " Glass Menagerie", and " Romeo and Juliet" these books are very interesting, read books help me to improve my English. I think the most exciting part is to adapt one of the scenes in the book into another kind of story. I like to create something new by myself. It's a very interesting process. I like this class and i'm sure I will miss my classmates and Ms. Guarino.
