Monologuen David Dai

This week we finished two monologues. I think act in front of many people is a challenge for me, because this is my first time act independently and it's also my first time act in front of my classmates, Afraid they will laugh at me. And memorize a paragraph and speak out loudly and fluently on the stage is also a hard thing for me. Because I will feel nervous when I was acting. But every time when Ms. G helps me to improved my acting skills, I will feel more confidently. As a result we had a wonderful ending of the monologue. The character I create is Rose , Rose is a housewife she has to take care of her kids and she also has to care about the whole family. But she is a powerless person in the family. So when I create this character I always use a small voice to show she is afraid of her husband, when she knows her husband seeing another women she is helpless the only thing she can do is crying. The scene I act is a crying scene turn to a angry scene. So at first I have to put my hand on my eyes, this action can assumed I'm crying, after that I will turn around and use my hand to clean up the tears, and then turn back and act the angry scene. I did a connection between the emotion change, this will let the audience understand the meaning better. In order to have a sad emotion showing on my face I have to put my hand on my face and assuming I'm crying. When I want to show I'm angry I will increase my volume of speak. During the acting section I think I did a good job on emotion, because I have changed the emotion very clearly, it's easy for audience to determine when is sad when is angry. I also improved my volume during the acting, at first I afraid to speak loud, but this will affect the audience. So after Ms. G encouraged me I improved myself, I go inside the character. After that I realize how to act the character Rose better. So I become confident I spoke louder than previous. But I feel confused about how to act a women character, A male act a female character, I can't understand why I choose this paragraph. I think my decision is ridiculous. I think I act Rose is very difficult. And make the connection between the emotion is also important, at first I always change the emotion very fast so the audience can't followed my step. After Ms. G correct my mistakes, I made connection between two emotion, that make the acting become better. Next time I should be more confident. This time is my first time t act I can be nervous. But I think next time I have to think about the feelings the charter has at that time. Depend on this method I can act better. In my opinion I like the monologue of Cassidy, She act the character Troy, She looks confident and se also go inside the character and she tried figured out what is Troy's feeling at that time. She spoke loud and fluent. And she also had many body language during the acting, these things make the character more vivid. My classmates also have some difficulties, like they have less acting experience, but I think we can solve these problems by act more in class.
