I think the stage is separated into two pieces, one is Algernon's house and another is in Jack Worthing's house. The play starts with Algernon and jack, they are talking about Gwendolyn, Algernon's cousin. Jack comes for Gwendolyn because he wants to make a proposal with Gwendolyn. Every time when Jack comes to London he always uses his name, Ernest. Jack is worried about telling the truth to Gwendolyn that his real name is Jack because Gwendolyn likes the name, Ernest. Gwendolyn's mom, Lady Bracknell, doesn't allow Ernest and her daughter get married because she thinks Jack is an orphan, his life experience is not good enough. By accident, Algernon finds out that on the cigarette box, it prints to uncle Jack. Then Algernon thinks Ernest is not his real name. Finally, Jack tells the truth to Algernon. Algernon thinks this kind of action is very similar to his "bunburying". Then Jack goes back to the town where he lives. Because Jack mentioned Cecily to Algernon, by curious Algernon also goes back to the town, he arrived before Jack. Algernon likes Cecily and makes a proposal with Cecily. In the town, Algernon uses the name Ernest, but Jack is going to tell Cecily that Ernest has died in London. This lie produces many events in the play. At the end of the story, Lady Bracknell realizes that Miss Prism is the worker in her sister's house twenty-eight years ago. Jack is the baby that her sister lost. So actually Algernon and Jack are brothers. Because Jack has to use his father's name as the last name, they find out that his father's name is also Ernest.
The major theme in this play is that people should be earnest, I think this is the most important thing the author and the director want to express. The title of this play shows the importance of being earnest. In the play both Algernon and Jack use the method, bunburying, to lie to others. " Bunburying" is that people make a fictional person to avoid the problems or social obligations from daily life. Because of the dishonesty, Jack and Algernon produce many other problems, such as let two female characters confuse about who is Ernest and Algernon doesn't pay for the obligation. At the end of the story, Jack said that "I've now realized for the first time in my life the Vital Importance of Being Earnest"

For the costume, especially for Linda, her costume can show her social status. She has fashion clothes and on her hands, there are many pieces of jewelry. The costumes of the characters can show the time period that the events happened. It's around 19th or 18th century. The light in the play is not very special the light has covered the stage where the events happened. The color of the light is yellow. During the play, between each scene, it will play music. The music is lively, it can present a happy mood. The main characters always stand in the middle of the stage, so that the audience can pay more attention to the main characters. Some other characters just sit or stand in the side of the stage such as Ms prism.
Algernon is my favorite character, I think this character fit the actor, Aaron. Because this character like Aaron, the personality and the character is similar to the actor. I think the reason for how did Aaron make this character such successful is that Aaron uses many body languages and facial expressions. When Aaron talks to Tas, he always eating something and his hands are moving it makes the character more vivid.
I like this play very much because this play is very interesting. I think this play is more like a comedy, I like comedy actually and I think comedy can bring happiness to the audience. The content is easy to understand, although there are some words I can't understand, I can still understand what is happening. The play is not like the previous plays, the previous one is hard to understand and the content is not funny. So I think the previous play can't catch my attention. I learned a lot from Aaron, now I can use facial expression and body language better than before. I can use it in my IA in order to get a higher score.
